Continuing the Tent Talk Summer Reading Series, Nancy begins Chapter 12, The Cross and the Soul Life, from Watchman Nee’s The Normal Christian Life. Returning to God’s eternal purpose for man, she explores the distinction between having a soul and living by the soul as an independent source. Through the account of Adam and the two trees, Nancy highlights the Father’s desire for sons who live in union with Him, drawing their life, strength, thoughts, and actions from Christ rather than from natural human resources. The soul was never meant to be eliminated, but brought into its proper place as the servant of the Spirit, expressing the life of Christ within. This episode invites listeners to recognize the Father’s pruning work as He checks the independent soul life and brings His sons into deeper dependence, oneness, and expression of His Son.
